The following is a Design Brief put forward by the client (note that this will be edited and refined for our purposes…coming soon). Below the brief are a couple of links to pdf files that will also be of use.
Design Brief:
The Canadian Association of Fine Arts Deans (CAFAD) is a nationwide organization of forty-three post-secondary Fine Arts faculties, institutions and other academic units. The organization maintains a website and publishes a newsletter, both of which were designed in the early 1990s. Its members meet at an annual general meeting, usually held in the fall. We are looking for a new and more current identity for our association, that will be reflected in our website and our newsletter.
CAFAD Mandate: A forum for advanced education in fine arts
CAFAD Aims
1. To create a mechanism for the regular exchange of information on academic programs, enrolment figures, staffing needs and opportunities, capital and operating costs, teaching loads, tenure and promotion criteria, space standards, etc. It will be our special concern to identify problems and issues of programs in the fine Arts.
2. To develop a national voice for university programs in the Fine Arts. Our advice is of value, not only within the university community, but also to the public at large. We can be of assistance to federal and provincial governments, especially by discussion of cultural policy and to such bodies as the Canada council and the provincial arts councils.
3. To join with other organizations to be an advocate for the Fine and Performing Arts in Canada. Efforts to improve the standing of university programs should be commensurate with a responsibility to serve the greater community of artists in Canada
CAFAD members are served by a quarterly Newsletter published in June, September, December, and March. Submissions to the editor are welcome at anytime.
The Association manager maintains our website. http://www.cafad.com

Here is a single page PDF of a good online article regarding the importance of a design audit.
It’s taken from Creative Latitude. Apologies to Neil Tortorella for leaving out the best bits. Visit Neil’s original article here.
